Welcome to my digital psychology practice! I offer various types of psychological support, including therapy/supportive counseling, parental support, and coaching sessions. The first one or two sessions are assessment sessions, where we jointly discuss your situation and determine an approach that suits you best.
Background
I’m originally from the USA, but Sweden has been my home since 2007. I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. in Psychology from Stockholm University. I provide therapy in both Swedish and English, however, English is my native language.
Over the years, I’ve worked in several areas of mental health and well-being. In Sweden, I’ve supported parents and children through primary care (Föräldra- och barnhälsovård), worked with adults in primary care addressing mild to moderate psychological concerns, and as an organizational and leadership development consultant and researcher.
Currently, I work as a therapist and researcher. Here I offer therapy exclusively to private clients online, with appointments booked through the online booking system. Feel free to send me an email if you would like more information: aliciaohlsson@ohlssonwellbeing.com.
Areas of Specialty
I have a particular interest in the connection between mental and physical health — and how they influence one another. I am currently completing specialist training in psychological treatment/psychotherapy and clinical health psychology (STP psychologist, through the Swedish Psychological Association). I am also deeply interested in preventive strategies and behaviors that promote psychological well-being.
In addition, I hold a Ph.D. in Psychology from Stockholm University (2020). Over the past 15 years, I have conducted research in various areas of work and organizational psychology and continue to be active in this field. My research has explored different forms of stress (acute, cumulative, and moral/ethical stress), personality (Big Five), performance, and leadership.
These areas of expertise shape the perspective I bring to both my therapeutic work and the educational and training services I provide.
Therapy
Together with the patient, I strive to create an understanding of how thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected and influence each other for the patient to gain understanding regarding their own behavior patterns and how this effects their wellbeing. I'm experienced with assessing and treating psychological problems of various kinds, but I'm a little extra passionate about issues related to worry and anxiety, life balance issues, stress and exhaustion, and parental support. I think it is important to create a consensus together with my patients about the problem at hand and to find the form of treatment that is most suitable and supported by research. In addition to CBT, I have in-depth skills in other forms of treatment such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and couples therapy. I often take an integrative approach depending on the needs of the client and the therapy goals.

Parental support
Parenting is an important behavior that sets the stable foundation for childrens' development through all developmental stages of their childhood and adolescence. I provide parental support for parents looking to reflect and improve upon their parenting skills or to understand their child's behavior and needs better.

Coaching sessions
Sometimes we have life goals that we want to achieve and obstacles that pop up along the way. I support individuals to set clear goals and create everyday habits/structure that can contribute to achieving their important life goals. I apply cognitive behavioral coaching (CBC) as a method to work with specific development goals with wellbeing as a central focus.
